Veterinarian | Surgery & Dermatology

Dr. Caitlin Walters brings a love of surgery and a passion for client education to the West Park team. Originally from New York, she earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University in 2025.

Dr. Walters’ path to veterinary medicine was shaped by hands-on work well beyond the exam room. She volunteered with rescue organizations, assisted with feral cat spay/neuter programs, and completed externships in dentistry and general practice. Her favorite procedures include cherry eye repairs, cystotomies, and feline spays, though she enjoys all soft tissue surgery. She also has a special interest in dermatology and enjoys helping itchy, uncomfortable pets find relief.

When Dr. Walters and her husband relocated to Tampa, she was drawn to West Park because it is independently owned and gives her the freedom to practice truly individualized care. She believes informed pet parents make the most confident decisions, and she takes the time to explain the “why” behind every recommendation. She is Fear Free Certified, so every exam is approached with low-stress handling that puts a pet’s comfort first. She is also a member of the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians and the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians.

At home, Dr. Walters shares her life with her husband, two dogs, Ty and Kiele, two cats, Cheerio and Crunch, and a rescued ball python named Bruce, who kept his name. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys photographing wildlife, exploring national and state parks, doing puzzles, and reading.
